Independent Candidate Joins the LibDems

Local Liberal Democrats are delighted that Martin Adams, who stood as an Independent candidate in the General Election earlier this year, has just signed up to join the Lib-Dems.

"I now believe that I could be more effective by being part of a larger, recognisable group than by being just one, solitary individual," said Martin, "and since I support the general philosophy and policies of the Lib-Dems, it is quite natural for me to join with them, and not with either of the other two main parties".

Branch Chairman, Cllr. Mione Goldspink, commented, "We are all delighted and we welcome Martin most warmly."

"He will be a real asset to our branch", added Cllr. Mike Wood, who is Leader of the Lib-Dem group on the District Council.

Activist, Mike Shaw, who is the party's candidate in the Sawbridgeworth By-Election, said "I am very pleased to have another helper in the campaign team, and I look forward to working with Martin now and into the New Year."
